Liberia: An Uncivil War
I had the opportunity to have some of my original music included in this gripping and tragic documentary.
Liberia: An Uncivil War provides an in-depth case study of one of the many brutal civil wars which have sprung up like wild fires across Africa. It is an exciting example of war-time journalism - white knuckles reporting with bullets ricocheting just feet from the camera placed in a historical context stretching back nearly two hundred years. Liberia can uniquely claim to be "made in America" and has always looked to the U.S. in its times of crisis.

Do I get a penny?
" Okay I was 15 and didn't write the songs on the single. My drumming actually sounds okay considering how terrible and green I was (I had only been playing for a few years); it also happened to be my background vocal debut. My close friend Brad, who played guitar in the band, tells me the single has been getting pretty high bids on Ebay. At the time there was a long period of negotiation between some of the parents and the label's lawyer. Brad and I both left the band before the 45 came out and no one in the band has ever seen a dime for this 45, which was also later released on another label. One of a long list of lessons to be learned. Anyway, here's a link to a recent winning bid. You can also hear it by going to this

" Just released on Kufala Records Baby Winter. Genji collaborated with pianist extraordinaire Barney McAll on this project which ranges from the etherial to tense anticipation in the form of ambient soundscapes. The cover image is a painting by our good friend Eric Jiaju Lee, and is also the source of the name "Baby Winter". Kufala Records

In Madagascar, one of the world's poorest countries, nearly half of the population is under the age of 14. Very few people have access to electricity, plumbing, or many of the other conveniences we take for granted in the first world.
What do two small boys in this nation of children do with a free day? Tulch and Noel, best friends with a day off from school, successfully illustrate that you don't need fancy toys or the latest technology to have some fun on a beautiful summer afternoon.
Maybe all you need is a tin can and a little imagination...
